About the temple
▼About Myoken-ji Temple
Long revered as "Myoken-sama of Yamashina," this temple has preserved its sacred image as a "hidden Buddha" that is unveiled only once every 33 years.
It is said that this Myoken descended upon a rocky mountain called Norikura in Hinokigahara over 1,300 years ago. After Emperor Shomu developed a deep faith in this deity, it was revered during the reign of Emperor Kanmu as the guardian of the imperial capital.Later, for reasons unknown, Myoken-sama had been buried underground for a long time. When people unearthed the statue and enshrined it in a small shrine, this marked the beginning of Myoken-ji Temple.

The space is 10 tatami mats in size (Kyoto standard) and is equipped with tables and chairs that can seat up to 10 people.
It is recommended for meetings and workshops.

To ensure consideration for neighbors and prevent disturbances, the following behaviors are prohibited.
Failure to comply may result in termination of your use for the day.
・Shouting, causing a disturbance, acting violently, or loitering outside the venue (near the entrance, in common areas, other rooms, etc.)
・Damaging or defacing the venue
・Religious events related to denominations other than Nichiren Buddhism are prohibited
・Any other acts contrary to public order and morals

・Smoking is strictly prohibited on the premises. We appreciate your understanding.
・Viewings are available on even-numbered days from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. If you wish to schedule a viewing, please call us at (075-592-0164).

・If you wish to take photographs, please let us know the details of your shoot.
