About the temple
▼About Saishū-ji Temple
Sai-shu-ji, quietly situated in the heart of Shimogyo Ward, was founded in 1630 by the monk Ryoku. It received the temple name “Sai-shu-ji” from the 13th head of the Hongan-ji, the High Priest Sennyo.Originally established in Takoyakushi Tsujimachi, Atago District, Yamashiro Province, it was relocated to its current site in 1781 (An'ei 10).The current main hall was relocated from the main hall of Zenmyo-in at Sennyu-ji in 1886 (Meiji 19), and it continues to convey a long history and a serene atmosphere to this day.
Saishō-ji is a temple that continues to quietly uphold daily life and prayer alongside the local community. Although located in the heart of the city, the moment you step onto the temple grounds, you are enveloped in a special space of silence and tranquility.

・Any other acts contrary to public order and morals.
