About the temple
▼About Takusō-in, a Sub-temple of Chōtoku-zan Chion-ji Temple
It is a sub-temple of Chōtoku-zan Kōtoku-in Hyakumanben Chion-ji Temple, one of the four main temples of the Jōdo-shū sect.
It was founded in 1610 (Keichō 10).
Originally located on the site of the former Hyakumanben residence in Higashi-Kyogoku, Tokyo, it was destroyed in 1661 (Kanbun 1) when a fire originating from the Imperial Palace spread to the surrounding homes and Chion-ji Temple, consuming Takusō-in along with them.
The following year, it was relocated to its current site along with the main temple, and was rebuilt in 1672 (Kanbun 12).
