About the temple
▼About Myōju-ji Temple\
Located just a short distance from Matsuo Taisha Shrine, Myōju-ji Temple is a relatively new temple that has stood on this site for about 50 years.\
Perhaps because it was originally a nunnery, the temple has a gentle, welcoming atmosphere.
Located on a hilltop, it offers a superb view overlooking the city of Kyoto. Since it is set back from the main streets, you can relax in a peaceful and tranquil setting.
As the term “terakoya” (temple school) suggests, temples in the past served as places for children to study and play, as well as venues for socializing and interaction among the elderly.
The head priest maintains the temple with the hope that everyone will feel it is “their temple” and feel close to it.
▼About the Space
・The space consists of connected L-shaped rooms measuring 4.5 tatami mats, 6 tatami mats, 8 tatami mats, and 5 tatami mats.
If needed, the sliding doors can be removed to connect all four rooms.
(*If you wish to use the space with the sliding doors removed, please make a reservation for at least 2 hours. Please let us know in the message section when booking.)
・If you move the desks, please do so yourself and return them to their original positions.
