About the temple
▼About Hōshuzan Fukuseiji Temple\
It is said that this ancient temple, with a history spanning over 1,230 years, was founded in 784 as a temple for the protection of the nation following Emperor Kanmu’s relocation of the capital to Nagaokakyō.
Within the temple grounds, flowers such as mountain cherry trees—some hundreds of years old—as well as plum blossoms, summer camellias, hydrangeas, lotus flowers, maple leaves, and winter jasmine bloom in succession, adding color to each season.
Please enjoy the seasonal charm at the rest area located in the garden.
If you climb the stairs, you will find the “Zao Gongen Hall,” and from the hilltop, you can see Mount Hiei and the Kyoto Tower.
At Hōshuzan Fukuseiji Temple, you will be welcomed by our German head priest.
▼About the Space
The main hall consists of a 6-tatami-mat room, an 8-tatami-mat room, and a 6-tatami-mat adjoining room, providing ample space for your use.
To enjoy the view of the garden, you may remove the sliding doors separating the room from the veranda or move the Buddhist altar items (such as the wooden fish and bell) located in the center; however, we ask that you reserve the space for at least two hours.
Please let us know if you wish to do so when making your reservation.

To ensure consideration for neighbors and prevent disturbances, the following activities are prohibited.
Failure to comply may result in termination of your reservation on the day of use.
・Shouting, causing a disturbance, or loitering outside the space (near the entrance, in common areas, or in other rooms).
・Damaging or defacing the space.
・Playing loud musical instruments or similar devices.
・Leaving trash generated on the day of your visit without permission.
・Religious events of any kind.
・Any other behavior that violates public order and morals.

・Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the venue. Smoking is permitted only in designated areas.
*On weekdays, the venue is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. On Sundays, it is available starting in the afternoon.
