About the temple
▼About Jigenzan Kannon-ji Temple\
Kannon-ji Temple was founded in 1607 (Keichō 12) by Priest Baiboku in Ichijō-Muromachi. \
In 1661 (Kanbun 1), the temple was destroyed by fire and relocated to its current site in Shichihonmatsu, Izumi.
The temple gate was relocated from the prison gate of Fushimi Momoyama Castle.
Known as the “Gate of a Hundred Blows,” it is considered one of the Seven Wonders of Izumi.
The Jizo statue in the Jizo Hall is called the “Night Crying Jizo.”
True to its name, it is said to have the power to stop children from crying at night, and it attracts many devotees. Some people even donate bibs here in the hope of stopping their children’s night crying.
